Zambia is grappling with a severe gender-based violence (GBV) crisis, with recent surveys indicating that nearly half of women have experienced some form of abuse. Despite the existence of laws like the Anti-Gender-based Violence Act of 2011, cultural attitudes often view violence as a private matter, leaving many survivors without support. Activists emphasize the need for cultural change and better resources, as many rural areas lack shelters and trained counselors. Efforts are underway to engage men in the fight against GBV, promoting healthier notions of masculinity. Digital platforms are also being utilized to spread awareness and provide resources to those in need. However, challenges such as stigma, fear, and inadequate funding continue to hinder progress in addressing this critical issue.
