Why it matters
The aqueduct is a physical delivery asset that enables drinking and irrigation water transfers to 17 districts, shifting the project from planning to execution and tightening downstream readiness timelines for district-level distribution and irrigation schemes. The June 2028 target sets a concrete window for procurement, land/interface clearances, and integration with connected dams and canal networks that will receive link water. The December 2024 Rajasthan–Madhya Pradesh MoA reduces inter-state execution risk for the transfer component, making dependent water-supply and irrigation investments more bankable within the ERCP-linked program.
