India lifts FY26 funding for rural housing and road builds
Why it matters
The higher FY26 outlays reverse FY25 in-year cuts (housing revised down to ₹32,500 crore; roads to ₹11,000 crore), reopening a larger pipeline of sanctioned works for contractors and state implementing agencies from April. Finalization of the PMAY-G beneficiary list via a new survey and the PMGSY habitation list with states removes a key administrative bottleneck that slowed FY25 awards and construction starts. Firms supplying cement, steel, aggregates, and rural logistics should plan for a step-up in dispatch volumes and working-capital needs aligned to the April–June ramp.
