ASML posts record quarterly orders for chipmaking tools
A What happened
ASML, a Netherlands-based supplier of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, said it set a quarterly record for orders in the final quarter of 2025. The company reported €13.2bn in bookings for the October–December period, and stated that more than half of those orders were for its most advanced extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography systems. It also reported Q4 net sales of €9.7bn, full-year 2025 sales of €32.7bn, and full-year net profit of €9.6bn compared with €7.6bn in 2024.

Why it matters

  • Signals near-term capex demand from leading chipmakers: A bookings surge concentrated in EUV systems indicates customers are committing to high-end capacity expansion rather than limiting spend to incremental upgrades.

  • Tightens the supply bottleneck for advanced-node production: A higher share of EUV orders implies continued pressure on delivery slots and installation capacity for the tools required to manufacture cutting-edge chips.

  • Reinforces ASML’s earnings visibility: Record bookings expand backlog, improving revenue predictability across upcoming quarters given the long lead times for EUV equipment.
