The UK Ministry of Defence said Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4 jets joined French aircraft in a joint strike on an underground arms cache in Syria used by the Islamic State group (IS). The MoD said the facility was identified by intelligence and was believed to be storing arms and explosives in mountains just north of Palmyra. The MoD said the aircraft used Paveway IV guided bombs to target access tunnels and that initial indications were the target was engaged successfully. The MoD said there was no sign of harm to civilians and all aircraft returned safely, and said the Typhoon FGR4s were supported by a Voyager refuelling tanker.
