Discovered by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, this tool is still in the prototype phase and has not yet been made available for user testing. Instagram confirmed the feature's development, which is part of a larger strategy to enhance user control over their experience on the platform. Users would be able to indicate topics they want to see more or less of, similar to features being introduced on X. This move comes amid growing concerns about social media algorithms and their impact on users, particularly youth. Instagram's head, Adam Mosseri, demonstrated how users could select topics directly from their feed, aiming to adapt the algorithm to changing user interests. The feature is expected to improve user engagement by allowing real-time adjustments to content visibility.
