Abbie Martin, who splits her time between the Virgin Islands and Brazil, founded the Jaguar Identification Project and has been deeply affected by the fires. Martin has raised funds to support local volunteers fighting the fires and has witnessed the tragic aftermath, including the loss of wildlife and habitat. Despite the devastation, she remains hopeful, noting that as long as the rivers flow, jaguars and other wildlife can survive.
