Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in the Lok Sabha that surveys have been sanctioned for four new railway lines in Andhra Pradesh. These include a 74-km line between Machilipatnam and Narsapur, a 46-km line from Repalle to Bapatla, a 293-km fourth line between Gudur and Vijayawada, and a 49-km bypass from Indupalli to Duggirala. Additionally, a 45.30-km line between Machilipatnam and Repalle is being surveyed to provide a direct route. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity in the region, especially to Machilipatnam port. As of April 1, 2025, 39 railway projects have been sanctioned in Andhra Pradesh, totaling 4,498 km and costing approximately ₹70,231 crore, with significant progress already made.
