Stellantis, a major automaker, has entered into a nonbinding agreement with Pony AI, a Chinese autonomous vehicle company, to develop robotaxis for deployment across Europe. The collaboration will see Pony's self-driving technology integrated into Stellantis' electric medium-size van platform, which is equipped with advanced sensors necessary for autonomous operation. The first test vehicles will be based on the Peugeot e-Traveller model, with testing set to commence in Luxembourg, where Pony has its European headquarters. The companies aim to expand their fleet across various European cities starting in 2026. This partnership follows Pony's recent agreement with Uber to enter international markets and its successful acquisition of an autonomous vehicle testing permit in Luxembourg earlier this year. Additionally, Pony is pursuing a secondary IPO to further its market presence.
