Chamarajanagar district recorded 821 road accidents in 2025, with 1,274 injured and 242 deaths, according to statistics shared by Regional Transport Officer Gayathri. In 2024, 769 accident cases were reported, with 1,130 injured and 256 deaths. The Transport Department organised road safety and traffic-rule awareness programmes at crowded places such as markets, fairs, railway stations, and bus stands, and sought public co-operation to make the district accident-free. Officials and a judge urged compliance with traffic rules, warned against drunken driving, signal jumping, and triple riding, and said children should be educated on road safety from the primary level.
