On November 1, coinciding with Karnataka Rajyotsava, Bengaluru's Namma Metro will introduce its fifth train on the Yellow Line, which runs between R.V. Road and Bommasandra. This addition comes in response to significant overcrowding experienced by commuters due to a limited number of trains. The frequency of trains during peak hours will improve from 19 minutes to 15 minutes, providing much-needed relief to daily passengers. The Yellow Line, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has faced challenges since its launch, including long wait times exceeding 25 minutes. The new train set, received on September 30, underwent a 20-day testing cycle before its introduction. While the addition of the fifth train is a step forward, officials indicate that more trains will be required to achieve optimal service levels. Each train is equipped with advanced Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology, allowing for potential driverless operations in the future.
