Harpreet Singh Gulati, a close aide of jailed Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau. The arrest occurred after investigators uncovered a ₹10 crore transaction between Gulati's companies and firms owned by the Majithia family. Gulati had previously been questioned about this transaction but failed to provide satisfactory answers. He has been remanded for six days. Majithia, currently in jail for a disproportionate assets case, faces serious allegations of corruption linked to the liquor trade in Punjab. The investigation suggests that Gulati's firms received liquor licenses through Majithia's influence, with significant funds allegedly funneled for personal benefits. The ongoing probe is part of a larger investigation into money laundering involving drug money, with Majithia previously arrested for laundering ₹540 crore.
