A What happened
A recent HSBC survey indicates that 57% of wealthy entrepreneurs are contemplating moving to another country within the next year, a slight increase from the previous year. The survey, which included 2,939 business owners with significant assets, found that personal safety (47%) and better education opportunities (52%) were more influential than tax efficiency, which only 33% cited as a reason for relocation. Singapore was identified as the most popular destination, followed by the UK, Japan, and Switzerland. Interestingly, Gen Z entrepreneurs showed the highest interest in relocating, with over 75% considering a move. The report suggests that while tax policies are often discussed, they are not the primary motivators for most entrepreneurs when choosing a new residence.
