Election officials in Kerala received 2.18 lakh applications for inclusion of names in the electoral roll after the draft roll was published on December 23 under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision. The applications included 1,77,718 Form 6 applications and 40,383 Form 6A applications, and officials also received 932 Form 7 objection applications. Hearings began for ‘no mapping’ electors who could not be linked to the 2002 SIR list, numbering a little over 19.32 lakh. The draft roll listed a little over 2.54 crore voters and showed 24.08 lakh names removed into an Absent, Shifted, Dead list, which drew the ire of political parties in the State.
