To tackle the increasing complaints of fraudulent Learner's Licence Registrations (LLRs), Karnataka's Transport Department has introduced an AI-powered 'Smart Lock' system. This initiative aims to ensure that only genuine applicants take the mandatory online test. The system, developed by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, integrates advanced technologies like facial recognition and behavioral monitoring into the Sarathi Parivahan Seva portal. It restricts applications from a single IP address to two LLRs, preventing driving schools and middlemen from submitting multiple applications. The online test is monitored in real-time, capturing the applicant's movements and audio to detect any impersonation attempts. While officials believe this will significantly reduce fraud, some applicants have reported technical issues with the system, prompting the Transport Department to investigate and address these challenges.
