The three nations urged Iran to refrain from escalatory actions and to pursue diplomatic negotiations. Iran's President condemned the sanctions as unfair and reiterated that the country does not intend to develop nuclear weapons. The sanctions come after unsuccessful talks at the UN General Assembly aimed at delaying their reimposition. Iran has also suspended inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has warned that the return of sanctions could jeopardize ongoing negotiations regarding its nuclear program.
