Airbound, an Indian drone startup founded in 2020, has raised $8.65 million in seed funding to develop a new generation of drones designed for ultra-low-cost deliveries. The funding round was led by Lachy Groom, co-founder of Physical Intelligence, and included participation from notable investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners. Airbound's innovative aircraft features a blended-wing-body design that allows it to take off like a rocket and fly efficiently, targeting delivery costs as low as one cent. The startup is currently piloting its technology with Narayana Health in Bengaluru, focusing on medical logistics. Airbound plans to scale its operations significantly, aiming for one million deliveries per day by mid-2027 and expanding into the U.S. market thereafter. The funding will enhance manufacturing capabilities and support broader market adoption.
