Ford Motor Company has announced a temporary halt in the production of its F-150 Lightning electric truck, focusing instead on its gas and hybrid F-Series models. This decision follows a significant fire at Novelis' aluminum plant, which has severely impacted Ford's supply chain and production capabilities. The automaker reported that the fire could cost it up to $2 billion in earnings for the fourth quarter, leading to a downward revision of its profit forecast for 2025. Despite a year-over-year sales increase for the F-150 Lightning, the volume remains small compared to the gas-powered F-Series trucks. To mitigate losses, Ford plans to ramp up production of its F-Series trucks by over 50,000 units in 2026, which is expected to create around 1,000 new jobs.
