The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) has appointed S Sankarasubramanian, the Managing Director and CEO of Coromandel International Limited, as its new chairman. This decision was made during a board meeting on October 31, where Sankarasubramanian was elevated from his previous role as co-chairman. He brings over 30 years of experience in the fertiliser sector, particularly in phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertilisers. His vision for FAI includes driving innovation and sustainability through resource efficiency and balanced nutrition, while also working closely with policymakers to achieve self-reliance in the fertiliser sector, known as Atmanirbharta. Siba Prasad Mohanty, managing director of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd, will serve as the sole co-chairman, having previously shared the position. The FAI, established in 1955, represents various stakeholders in the fertiliser industry across India.
