At the golden jubilee celebrations of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) in Hubballi, chairman P.M. Narendraswamy stressed the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a clean environment for future generations. He noted that over 3.5 lakh milk packets are contaminating the soil daily in the region, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and action. Narendraswamy pointed out that the country should ideally have 33% forest cover but currently has less than 20%. He emphasized the challenges posed by chemical pesticides and urban solid waste, advocating for community involvement in environmental initiatives. The KSPCB plans to set up air quality monitoring centers and conduct educational activities in schools to foster environmental awareness. Other political leaders present echoed the call for collective action to combat pollution and promote sustainability.
