Deta has unveiled Surf, a new AI-powered browser and knowledge management application designed to facilitate research and content organization. Launched in beta, Surf allows users to create notebooks on various topics, summarize web content, and extract insights from URLs, PDFs, and videos. The app's AI capabilities enable users to ask questions based on multiple tabs, enhancing the research experience. Deta's co-founder, Max Eusterbrock, emphasized the importance of user-friendly design, noting that Surf's offline functionality and local data storage make it particularly suitable for students and researchers. The startup, which pivoted from its original product in 2023, has secured $4.1 million in funding to support its development. Future plans include premium features such as cloud backup and collaboration tools.
