IndiGo Airlines is undergoing significant operational disruptions, leading to widespread flight cancellations and delays at Delhi Airport. The airline has canceled over 400 flights recently, with more than 500 cancellations reported in a single day. The disruptions are attributed to the implementation of new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) rules and challenges in crew scheduling. The Civil Aviation Minister has convened an emergency meeting with IndiGo's management to address the situation. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is monitoring airfares and has directed the Airports Authority of India to assist affected passengers. IndiGo has acknowledged underestimating crew requirements under the new regulations, which has contributed to the operational challenges. The airline anticipates that disruptions may continue for two to three days but plans to stabilize operations gradually. Starting December 8, IndiGo will temporarily reduce flight frequency and seek short-term relaxations of certain FDTL regulations.
