The CPI(M) has opted not to take immediate disciplinary action against A. Padmakumar, who was arrested in connection with the alleged misappropriation of gold at Sabarimala. Party sources indicate that this decision will hold until a chargesheet is filed. M.V. Govindan, the CPI(M) State secretary, communicated to the Pathanamthitta district committee that the party's position on the Sabarimala gold smuggling case is clear and uncompromising. He assured that no gold belonging to Ayyappa would be lost and that any implicated party member would face strict consequences. Despite this, there is growing pressure within the party for swift action against Padmakumar, as some members argue that his presence in the district committee could undermine the party's credibility. Meanwhile, the leadership has directed party workers to focus on the government's strong measures at Sabarimala and promote the LDF's development initiatives in the area.
