The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has made history by earning the IGBC Net Zero Energy Rating for its Project Office in Rayapudi, Amaravati. This recognition marks it as the first government building in India to achieve this rating at the design stage. The award was presented during the IGBC Green Building Congress 2025 in Mumbai. The building boasts an impressive Energy Performance Index of 0.85, which is nearly 15% more efficient than the ECBC 2017 standard. Key features include high-performance HVAC systems, efficient lighting, and a well-optimized building envelope. Additionally, a 540 kWp rooftop solar plant generates around 7.88 lakh units annually, covering about 45% of the building's energy needs, with the rest sourced from Green Tariff renewable power. APCRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu emphasized that this achievement sets a national benchmark for green public buildings and reflects the state's commitment to sustainable urban development.
