A What happened
In a joint operation, Andhra Pradesh CID police and various Central government agencies rescued 22 youths trapped in a cybercrime compound at Myawaddy in Myanmar. CID officials said cyber fraudsters lured youths from districts including Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Kadapa and Vizianagaram with promises of high-profile IT jobs and then detained them for months and forced them to commit online frauds. CID said offenders operating across Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos trafficked the youths from India. CID officials said 1,586 Indian youths were rescued from cybercrime hubs in the last three months, including 120 from Andhra Pradesh.
