The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board has given the green light for a Rs 4,000-crore solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility by ReNew Photovoltaics, a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global PLC. This facility will be established in Rambilli, Anakapalli district, and is part of India's strategy to enhance its solar energy capacity while decreasing dependence on imported components, particularly from China. The project is backed by the Government of India's Production-Linked Incentive scheme for solar manufacturing. Spanning 140 acres, the facility is projected to be operational by January 2028, with commercial production expected to start in March 2026. It will create approximately 1,200 jobs and will require a continuous power supply of 95 MW and 10 MLD of water.
