On December 25, 2025, Air India Express commenced operations from the newly opened Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), becoming among the first airlines to offer direct flights from the new facility. The airline launched daily flights to Bengaluru and five weekly flights to Delhi, planning to expand service frequency starting January 2026. This move supports NMIA’s role as Mumbai’s second gateway airport, intended to alleviate congestion at Mumbai's primary airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The airline is also enhancing its cabin features on Boeing 737-8 aircraft, including better seating and onboard amenities. NMIA, developed by the Adani Group and CIDCO, plans to scale up operations to 24 daily departures initially, and eventually up to 90 million passengers annually upon completion.
