Ahmedabad Airport has been authorized to allow the import and export of gems and jewellery parcels through personal carriage, as per a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). This development is significant as it extends similar provisions already in place at major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Jaipur. The DGFT, which operates under the commerce ministry, aims to simplify the process of international trade for individuals carrying valuable items. This change is expected to enhance the convenience for travelers transporting jewellery, thereby promoting trade and commerce in the sector.
