The Andhra Pradesh Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare has gained international recognition for its innovative maternal healthcare policy, the Midwifery Training Programme. The International Confederation of Midwives, based in the Netherlands, selected this policy as one of the best practices after reviewing over 6,188 applications. The department has been invited to present its successful model at a workshop in Lisbon, Portugal, scheduled for June 2026.
