EU suspends US poultry imports from new Rhode Island HPAI zone, re-authorises Canadian and Chilean zones
EU border control posts and poultry importers must refuse consignments from the new US zone US-2.1397 (Providence County) and apply the restored authorisations for the listed Canadian, Chilean and US zones
- — Member State border control posts must refuse entry to consignments of poultry, germinal products of poultry, and fresh meat of poultry and game birds originating in the new US restricted zone US-2.1397 (Providence County) from entry into force — admitting such consignments breaches the directly applicable Regulation.
- — Importers bringing the covered poultry products into the Union must re-check the amended Annex V and XIV zone listings before shipment: consignments from US-2.1397 are now blocked, while consignments from the re-authorised Canadian (CA-2.334–336, CA-2.338), Chilean (CL-2.13, CL-2.14) and listed US zones may again enter if they meet Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/692 requirements — shipping against the superseded list risks refusal at the border.
- — Member State competent veterinary authorities must apply the amended Annexes when certifying and inspecting entry, from the day after publication — the urgency clause leaves no transition period.
