The CEO of AP-SECM called for rapid implementation of energy efficiency programs to support the state's energy transition strategy, emphasizing its importance for sustainable development.

S. Nagalakshmi, the Managing Director of AP-Genco and CEO of the AP State Energy Conservation Mission (AP-SECM), has called for the swift implementation of energy efficiency (EE) and conservation programs throughout the state. During a review meeting, she emphasized that EE is a vital component of the state's energy transition strategy. The focus will be on achieving measurable outcomes in key sectors, including buildings, industry, municipalities, agriculture, and transport, with support from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Nagalakshmi stressed the importance of aligning all initiatives with the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan and the Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Policy 2023–28. She also highlighted the need for strict adherence to the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and suggested integrating it with the building approval system. Additionally, she called for collaboration with industrial clusters to promote efficient technologies and facilitate carbon credit trading, while also extending support to MSMEs for adopting energy-efficient practices.
