Pakistan hikes petrol, diesel ex-depot prices

Pakistan’s government increased ex-depot prices for petrol and high-speed diesel by PKR 55 per litre each in an overnight decision.
Why it matters
High-speed diesel ex-depot pricing was set at PKR 335.86 per litre for the coming week, up from PKR 280.86 per litre (about 20%). Petrol ex-depot pricing was set at PKR 321.17 per litre, up from PKR 266.17 per litre (around 17%). The increase was announced just before midnight by the petroleum minister, deputy prime minister/foreign minister, and finance minister. Officials stated Pakistan has sufficient petroleum reserves.
