Maersk suspended reefer and dangerous/special cargo acceptance in and out of the UAE, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, suspended new bookings between the India Subcontinent and specified Upper Gulf markets, and stopped dangerous cargo to/from Israel until further notice.
Why Now
Maersk suspended reefer and dangerous or special cargo acceptance in and out of the UAE, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia until further notice. It stated exceptions will be made for critical foodstuff, medicines and other essential goods. Maersk also suspended all new bookings between the India Subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) and the Upper Gulf markets of the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia (limited to Dammam and Jubail), and said other trade corridors are not covered. Separately, it said it is not accepting dangerous cargo to and from Israel until further notice, with other cargo to/from Israel remaining open.
