Why Now

A senior government official stated the action was taken under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The official did not detail the specific content or information at issue, saying only that “information was being shared that should not have been shared,” and that relevant parties were “working it out.” Supabase advised users in India to use VPNs or update DNS resolvers to circumvent the block. Supabase reported on February 27, 2026 that it was pursuing resolution through “all available channels.”
