Coal India Ltd is setting its sights on achieving an ambitious coal production target of 875 million tonnes (MT) for the fiscal year 2025-26, as stated by its Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Sanoj Kumar Jha. This announcement comes after the company faced production shortfalls in September and October, primarily attributed to monsoon rains and a decline in demand from the power sector. Jha emphasized the company's commitment to fulfilling the coal requirements of various industries and assured that stock levels would be higher by the end of the year compared to previous years. Furthermore, he indicated that regulations for a proposed coal exchange are expected to be established within the next six months, which could impact the coal market dynamics significantly.
