Why it matters
A full commission of the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission issued tariff orders for financial year 2026–27. The commission rejected proposals from North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd for a uniform 35 paise per-unit increase in energy charges. The commission merged two slabs into one for three consumer categories: urban domestic, rural commercial, and urban commercial. The unchanged tariffs apply for the financial year beginning April 1, 2026.
