IRDAI extends transitional annual-fee and registration arrangements to 31 August 2026

Insurance intermediaries, surveyors and loss assessors must pay the annual fee and hold registration under transitional terms now extended to 31 August 2026

Change
On 2 July 2026 the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) extended the transitional arrangements for payment of the annual fee and issuance of the Certificate of Registration for intermediaries, surveyors and loss assessors from 30 June 2026 to 31 August 2026, or the date of notification of the relevant amended Regulations under the Insurance Act, 1938 (as amended by the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha Act, 2025), whichever is earlier.
Why it matters
The transitional arrangements set by Circulars dated 16 March 2026 (intermediaries) and 7 April 2026 (surveyors and loss assessors) had lapsed on 30 June 2026; this Circular carries them forward on the same terms until 31 August 2026 or notification of the amended Regulations, whichever is earlier. Annual-fee payment and Certificate of Registration continue to be governed by the transitional basis rather than the amended Regulations until that notification. All other provisions of the earlier Circulars are unchanged.
Implications
  • Insurance intermediaries, surveyors and loss assessors must continue paying the annual fee and maintaining their Certificate of Registration under the transitional arrangements now running to 31 August 2026 or notification of the amended Regulations, whichever is earlier — the prior arrangements lapsed on 30 June 2026, and the extension is the current basis for valid registration.
  • Compliance and licensing teams at insurance intermediary firms must track the earlier of 31 August 2026 or the amended-Regulations notification date as the point at which the transitional basis ends and the new fee and registration regime takes over — planning to the lapsed 30 June date leaves the fee and registration basis mis-set.
Who is affected
  • Insurance intermediaries, surveyors and loss assessors registered with IRDAI
  • Compliance and licensing teams at insurance intermediary firms
What to watch
  • 31 August 2026, or the date of notification of the relevant amended Regulations if earlier: the transitional annual-fee and registration arrangements end and the amended-Regulations regime takes over.

Clarify™ · Grounded, not generic

Why not a general AI assistant?

A general assistant will answer almost anything — including beyond what it actually knows, which is where drift and hallucination come from. Ask it the same question twice and you can get two different answers — no good when you need a record you can stand behind.

Clarify™ works differently. It answers only from the specific brief in front of you and its cited primary source. Ask something the brief doesn’t cover and it says so, rather than inventing an answer — and the same question returns a consistent, grounded answer every time. The trade-off is deliberate: narrower, but defensible enough to act on.
