Ukraine moves to lock down Starlink access inside the country

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said it will require Starlink terminals to be registered and whitelisted, after which unregistered terminals will be disconnected from operating in Ukraine.
Ukraine moves to lock down Starlink access inside the country
Why it matters
Ukraine and SpaceX said they recently worked together to stop Russian drone strikes that were using Starlink connectivity, and Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense announced a forthcoming shift to a whitelist model for Starlink use in-country. The ministry said residents will need to register terminals via an in-person visit to an Administrative Services Center, while businesses can verify terminals online and the military has separate registration systems; service members with personal terminals would add them to the whitelist to avoid disconnection. The ministry stated that once the whitelist is in place, only verified and registered terminals will be allowed to operate in Ukraine and all others will be disconnected.
