Shailesh Chandra, currently the President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), has been elected as the first Indian President of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA), effective November 1, 2025. This election is a historic moment for India, as it signifies the country's increasing prominence in the global automotive industry. Chandra, who also serves as the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, emphasized the importance of OICA in guiding the automotive sector's transition towards sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. He succeeds John Bozzella from the USA and will work alongside Hildegard Müller, who has been elected as Vice President. OICA, founded in 1919, represents national associations of motor vehicle manufacturers and plays a crucial role in promoting safe and sustainable mobility worldwide.
