In response to a devastating wildfire in Etosha National Park, Namibia has mobilized more than 500 soldiers to assist firefighters and volunteers. The fire, which began at a charcoal production site outside the park, has spread rapidly, killing at least nine antelope and destroying vast areas of grazing land. Officials attribute the fire's escalation to strong winds and dry vegetation. Although the blaze is reportedly under control, the full extent of the damage remains unclear pending aerial assessments. The park, a major tourist destination, is home to critically endangered black rhinos and numerous other species, making the fire a significant threat to local biodiversity and community livelihoods. No human casualties have been reported.
