On October 29, 2025, Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martínez was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of an 81-year-old man who was using an electric wheelchair. Reports indicate that the elderly man may have suffered a sudden health issue, causing him to veer off the cycle path into the lane where Martínez was driving. The accident took place near Inter's training facility in Appiano Gentile, just outside Milan. Following the incident, Martínez and other motorists immediately stopped to assist, and emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead upon arrival. Martínez, though unharmed, was left in shock, and Inter Milan subsequently canceled a press conference as a mark of respect for the victim.
