The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has partnered with the Indian Railways Finance Corporation (IRFC) to launch the country's first Single Cell Omics Translational (SCOT) Research Laboratory. This facility aims to advance research in early diagnosis, disease prognosis, biomarker discovery, and drug screening across a wide range of diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular conditions. The initiative is backed by a ₹10.83-crore grant from IRFC as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. The lab was inaugurated with key figures present, including IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti and IRFC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dubey, highlighting the collaboration's significance in enhancing medical research capabilities in India.
