The event was organized by Kudumbashree as part of an initiative to promote adherence to environmental guidelines during the 2025 local body elections. The disruption occurred in Uliathaduka town, where the group claimed the event should not be held near a place of worship during afternoon prayers. Witnesses reported that some individuals appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and allegedly assaulted the Kudumbashree performers. Video footage of the incident has emerged, and police are collecting statements from the performers as part of their investigation. The awareness campaign, which aims to encourage voter participation and adherence to Green guidelines, is being implemented across all five constituencies.
