Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, is expected to be officially named the host city for the 2027 UN climate conference, COP32, on November 18. Hosting COP32 provides Ethiopia with a platform to elevate African priorities in climate discussions, especially around adaptation finance and renewable energy access. The country has demonstrated leadership in sustainable development through initiatives like the Green Legacy Initiative, which has led to the planting of billions of trees. Additionally, Ethiopia's investments in renewable energy, including the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, showcase its commitment to a low-carbon future. Despite Africa contributing less than 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, it remains highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, making this conference crucial for addressing these challenges.
