Why it matters
The MoU was signed during the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Project, according to a university press note dated February 8, and involved SRM-AP Vice-Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu along with IT, Electronics and Communications Minister N. Lokesh. The planned Quantum Reference Centre at SRM-AP is described as a shared platform for startups, researchers and industry partners (domestic and international) to test and validate quantum computing components, benchmark performance, and assess efficiency prior to large-scale deployment. The university also said it is establishing a Quantum Institute to promote research.
