Air India expands international capacity and rolls out upgraded cabins on more long-haul routes
Why it matters
The added frequencies increase seat supply on key North America and East Asia routes starting March, tightening competitive pressure on pricing and corporate travel allocations for the 2026 Northern Summer schedule. Premium Economy becomes available on Delhi–Tokyo immediately and is introduced on Bengaluru–London and Delhi–Toronto from August, changing fare ladders and upgrade policies for managed travel programs. The Mumbai–London aircraft change from B777-300ER to new/retrofitted B787s from July 1 alters capacity and product consistency on a high-yield corridor, and from August 1 all Air India Heathrow flights will use aircraft with new cabin interiors, reducing product variability for premium travelers.
