MCA brings IBC Amendment Act provisions into force

MCA appointed 26 May 2026 as the commencement date for specified sections of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Act, 2026.
Why it matters
The notification makes the listed amendment provisions legally operative from 26 May 2026. Insolvency filings, tribunal steps and creditor actions covered by those commenced sections must now follow the amended Code rather than the pre-commencement text.

- — Insolvency professionals handling corporate insolvency, liquidation or related filings must apply the commenced amendment provisions from 26 May 2026 when preparing process documents and applications.
- — NCLT, NCLAT and DRT users in insolvency matters must frame applications, appeals and procedural steps around the amended provisions where the notified sections apply.
- — Financial creditors, operational creditors and committees of creditors must use the amended statutory rules for actions covered by the commenced sections from 26 May 2026.
